Privacy Policy

Nabat Labs LLC ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Anisi mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, date of birth (to verify eligibility), and password (stored securely as a hash).

Profile Information: You may optionally provide a bio, profile photo, languages, and interests.

Location Data: We collect two kinds of location information, with your permission:

Hangout pin locations (precise, stored): When you create a hangout, you choose a location for it. That location is stored at full precision and is visible to all users of the App — this is what makes hangout pins navigable on the map. You choose these locations; they may be, but do not have to be, your current location. The App warns you before placing a pin at your current location and offers to use a nearby public venue instead.
Your device location: We request your device's location at approximately 100-meter accuracy (the operating system's "Balanced" setting). It is used to show you nearby posts and hangouts. When you view the feed, your coordinates are sent to our servers to filter results and are not stored. When you create a post, your device coordinates at the time of posting are attached to the post and stored on our servers so the post can appear in other users' nearby feeds.

We do not track your location in the background.

User Content: Posts, comments, photos, and chat messages you create within the App.

Usage Data: We collect analytics events (e.g., app opens, feature usage) tied to your account to improve the App experience. These are deleted when you delete your account.

Consent Records: When you accept our Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy, we record the accepted versions, the time of acceptance, your IP address, and app version.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide and maintain the App's core features (posts, hangouts, chat, notifications)
To verify that you meet the App's minimum age requirement
To display your profile to other users in the community
To show nearby posts, hangouts, and events based on your location
To send you notifications about activity relevant to you (likes, comments, hangout updates)
To send password reset emails when requested
To enforce our community guidelines (reporting and moderation)
To improve the App based on usage patterns

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may share limited data with the following service providers who help us operate the App:

MongoDB Atlas — secure cloud database hosting
Cloudinary — image storage and delivery for post photos and profile pictures
Resend — transactional email delivery (password resets and report notifications)
Google Places API — location search and autocomplete
Apple Maps — map display
Expo Push Notification Service — delivery of push notifications to your device
Railway — application server hosting
Netlify — website hosting

These providers only process data as necessary to provide their services and are bound by their own privacy policies.

4. Data Storage, Region, and Security

Your data is stored on MongoDB Atlas cloud servers located in the United States (AWS us-east-1, Northern Virginia). Our application servers are hosted on Railway in the United States.

Security practices we employ:

Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms and are never stored in plain text.
All communication between the App and our servers uses HTTPS encryption.
Access to production data is limited to authorized personnel.
Authentication tokens are invalidated when you change your password.

5. Data Breach Notification

If we discover a security breach affecting your personal information, we will notify affected users without unreasonable delay. For residents of North Carolina, we will provide notice consistent with the North Carolina Identity Theft Protection Act (N.C.G.S. § 75-65), which requires notification to affected North Carolina residents and to the Consumer Protection Division of the North Carolina Attorney General's Office.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data as follows:

Chat messages	Until you delete your account; on deletion, your message content is replaced with a deletion marker so conversations remain readable for other participants
Analytics events	Until you delete your account
Push notification tokens	Until you delete your account or sign out
Password reset codes	15 minutes
Reports you filed	Until you delete your account
Reports filed about you	Retained for moderation and safety purposes
Legal acceptance records	Retained after account deletion in pseudonymized form (your user ID is replaced with an irreversible hash). We retain these records to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims — for example, to demonstrate that consent was obtained.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Access & Edit: You can view and update your profile information at any time within the App.
Delete Account: You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from the Profile > Settings screen. This action is irreversible.
Location: You can revoke location permissions at any time through your device settings.
Notifications: You can manage notification preferences in the App's settings.
Block & Report: You can block or report other users who violate community guidelines.

8. State Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws, which can include the right to know what personal information we hold about you, the right to correct inaccurate information, the right to delete your information, and the right to opt out of certain processing.

We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use your personal information for targeted advertising or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

9. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for anyone under 18 years of age, consistent with our Terms of Service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. We verify date of birth at registration and reject users under 18. If we become aware that we have collected data from anyone under 18, we will take steps to delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will publish a new version and ask you to review and accept it before continuing to use the App. Each version of this policy is preserved and available on request.
